Intuos 4 Wacom

January 31, 2010 by Holly McCaig

I’ve been using Wacom products for a number of years now and have been amazed at the growth of them through the years as technology evolves. I’m fortunate to be on a team for Wacom with their penscrappers.com website for digital scrapbooking. Sharing how you can utilize a tablet is fun for me. When I got my first Wacom, I had to throw my computer mouse into a drawer, far away from my desk. And, now, I spaz when I use a mouse. You just get used to it, for the better!

An all new professional tablet, Intuos4 takes into consideration the many aspects of a professional’s workflow, software integration points, and equal demand for both performance and comfort. Innovation in every detail. That’s Intuos4. Whether it’s the new Wacom Tip Sensor that lets you capture every nuance of a stroke, the new precision mode, or the added levels of pressure sensitivity to dynamically adjust exposure, brush size, line weight, and opacity, Intuos4 promises to exceed your every expectation.

The medium Intuos4 tablet is the most popular and versatile choice among creative professionals. With 48.5 square inches of working area, this tablet provides ample workspace for most tablet users.

The medium size is built with eight ExpressKeys and illuminated displays that provide easy reference to your assigned functions.

This product retails for $349 – and can I just say, I’m JEALOUS of this giveaway! I was fortunate that Wacom gave me one of their new Bamboo Touches when it came out for our team projects (which is another innovative product that’s VERY affordable if you’re looking to get into the Wacom products for your computer use). I can honestly attest that using a pen over a mouse is so much more ergonomically friendly to your hands, but also allows you to have much more precision during editing of your photos, or any design work that you might be doing.

Sooooooo…the kind people at Wacom knew that you all would love an opportunity to win one of these amazing Intuos4 Tablets – and well, I told them you’d do more than love it. You’d DIE for it! That’s why you have an opportunity now!

Enter to win, simply by leaving a comment on our blog here (this post) – not on Facebook, not on Twitter. Right here! We’ll give you two weeks to enter this time. Remember, first time posters must be approved manually, so please wait up to 24 hours for approval of your comment. We choose our winners from the admin side, based on the time you commented, not when we approve you.

Posing Guides by Willette Designs- Giveaway

January 22, 2010 by Carrie Bombria

Our latest giveaway is from the wonderful Kelly Willette of Willette Designs!  The winner will receive all four of her posing guides (children, siblings, families and seniors) valued at $200!!!

Here’s the skinny on what the guides are all about from the creater herself…

“The Portrait Cookbook posing guides are geared towards children’s photographers who need guidance on how to vary poses, who need to shorten the amount of time spent photographing at a session, and/or photographers who are just starting to branch out and start their own photography business. This resource is the result of my need to harness my desire for fantastic photos into a more streamlined approach so I can have fun with the kiddos I photograph rather than fumble with how I’m going to achieve a great portrait. Each guide includes at least 25 unique poses with pose cards that include info on how to pose and how to achieve variation within the pose. The product is a downloadable file that includes directions on how to print so you can carry them with you to a session. Current pose guides include: children’s, sibling, family and senior guides. Each guide can be purchased individually for $50.

And to make this giveaway even sweeter, Kelly has given our readers a coupon code for 10% off her products!

Code: PINKINK

expires: 2/15/10

Rod Evan’s Fashion Lighting for Seniors Tutorial – GIVEAWAY!

January 1, 2010 by Holly McCaig

0110-janevans

As a senior portrait photographer, finding ways to keep busy in the cold, blustery winter months can often be a challenge. Luckily, I found an amazing spot to call my studio and that allows me to stay out of the frigid temperatures and still have enough space to get creative with my seniors. But, when you’re in a studio, and you’re primarily a natural light photographer, how do you make lighting work for you when you’re not an expert lighting person?

I’ll be honest, you have to understand lighting to some degree. There are plenty of workshops, schools, etc. that you can attend to help you understand the basics of them, but that’s for another post.

Rod Evans, a premiere photographer that has the edge on indoor senior portraits, developed this lighting tutorial that inspired me to get more creative in the winter. I, like Rod, live in a winter-prone area, but you can apply these techniques any time of the year, not just winter. What Rod found is that seniors want to look like the pictures from their favorite magazines. And, he’s captured that need and put it to use in his business model. In this Fashion Lighting Tutorial, Rod demonstrates how he  interacts with his clients to types of lighting and you can watch him in action.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a hands on person, so this is probably the closest thing to that. If I read something, I may “get it” but when I have the visual, it all becomes that much more clear to me. Light setups that Rod demonstrates are four lights for head shots and full body shots. He shows you how to incorporate a five light setup and my favorite, a two light hot light setup (grrr). And, finally a one light set up. You can achieve so much with just one or five lights.

For just $219, you can purchase Rod’s awesome Fashion Lighting Tutorial – or you can enter to win it here!

The tutorial includes:

  • Over 90 minutes of video
  • Video of 3 senior fashion shoots
  • Details on lighting and diagrams
  • And, lessons on how he interacts with his subjects.

So…how do you win a copy? It’s simple this time! Simply leave a comment on the blog below (remember, if you’re a first time poster, we manually have to approve your comment). Tell us why you would like to win a copy of this and we’ll draw a winner on January 10th.

While you’re at it, check out his other products too. I particularly love the idea of Facebook Marketing!
